5464 looks a bit like a German MaK diesel unit. It's a modulair engine,
have a look at

for some info in English. This is the dutch version of the MaK 1002
design. If you look at the pictures you can see the modules clearly.
This allows MaK to build loads of different engines in a cheap way.
Apart from the Dutch Railways, Norway, some German private railways and
I believe Denmark bought these type of engines.
