Would you believe that the track is only actually a single brick above the
baseplate?
(Sorry if this picture looks too dark - it seemed fine at home, but on my
work PC I can't make out any of the black!)

If you look right under the arch it's obvious that there's barely two plates
of clearance, but no-one ever does.  It was originally three whole bricks
high, and the track needed a run-up of about seven straight sections to get
up to that level.  Now it doesn't need any more than the three sections that
go over the bridge.


That is a brilliant idea, Jason!

And of course your british dark red engine is simply marvellous....
