All,

Several years ago, I had a vision of a link portal that would be a one stop
destination for all finding all the fan created building instructions on the
Web. For a number of reasons, this project kept getting moved to the back
burner, and never really got started. But after many long nights, I have
finally completed what I believe is the first all-inclusive Building
Instructions Portal Web site!

http://www.bricksonthebrain.com/resources/links

The application is driven off of submissions of your own *original* work.
(Please submit only your own work) You can link to any URL, and can have any
type of building instruction (i.e. Web based, downloadable, .ldr/.mpd file,
free, cost, etc.) Working together, we can hopefully build the content of
this application together over time.

The site (version 1.0 anyway) is basically complete, but I'm sure there are
still bugs here and there. If you have feedback on the flow, or find
problems, please drop me a line (sink@countersinkdg.com). Please bear with
me as we work out all the kinks.  If you have suggestions on necessary or
desired functionality, send me a note as well, and I will try to add it in
as soon as I can.

I look forward to hearing your feedback! This is a big experiment, and I may
be the only one interested in this kind of application!

Jake

Jake, I like the idea, I think it will be a nice resource. A few things I noticed right away: 1) Could you add away that I can see all the instructions with out being broken in to catagories? I have to do a lot of clicking to just browse the current (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) Sorry to reply to my own post, but I forgot to mention... If you don't see a category, sub-category, sub-sub-category, etc., just click the "Suggest Category" link. I just threw a few of the bigger categories in before launching. Thanks! Jake (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) building instructions, and I hope everybody else will do this as well. The category selection indicates that you are a big train fan. You might want to add a few subcategories below some of the other main categories as well. Jacob (22 years ago, 13-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) Very impressive, Jake. Thanks for adding this resource to the community. Still, I'm not sure how to make use of it. For instance, suppose I'd like to build the JHM-23 Diesel Locomotive. The parts list is a great place to start. Once I've (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

Hi Jake! I visited your site this morning, it looks very nice. Maybe a little confusing, I'll have to spend some more time there--maybe I was still a little sleepy this morning. ;) One suggestion: could you add counts on the main page(s)? So by the (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

Very cool. This looks like the sort of thing that could really grow to be one of the key Lego AFOL sites (alongside Brickshelf, Peeron, Lugnet . . . ). One question. Do you have restrictions on how the instructions are done? All the ones I clicked (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) snipped (...) Good deal! I already built the intermodal spine car and love it! But thanks to you, now I have to go to Bricklink and buy a bunch of pieces so I can build 2 or 3 more of them!! - Bob (22 years ago, 14-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)
