Thanks again. It's just my first loco MOC, though. I've done other LEGO
stuff. But I must say that this was very challenging to me. It's very hard to
get a lot of detail in such a small space. There are a lot of things I am not
happy with; some fixable, some not.
The "not fixable" (at least my me):
I don't like the height of the train, but I wanted to keep the emblem and
window detail in the cab part of the loco. I messed around with the nose
forever and wound up with something that still has a gap (oh, well). I don't
like the prefab ladders and thought about doing something custom (again,
fitting it into such a small space is a problem). Actually making a loco that
looked like a minifig could use it (walk into the cab, walk between the railing
and the engine).
The fixable:
I ran out of black prefab ladders
I ran out of 2x2 disc plates for the levers on the tank (not really noticeable)
I would have liked to put more ventilation things on top and on the side
(again, ran low on parts)
I would have liked yellow 1x1x2 windows for the cab
(but I am lucky that I had 2 red ones :)
(Hey, TLC...more window designs would be great!)
All in all, I think building locos is one of the more challenging parts of
modelling with LEGO. My hats are off to you guys who do it on a regular basis
:) I built the Santa Fe Super Chief recently and was really impressed by not
only how good the model looks...but how easy and straightforward the design
was. It was an easy model to build, enjoyable to build, and looked great in
the end result!
