Yes aluminium. I had the same size-problem while I build the second BR 10
engine in black. The version A in white was also 2 studs shorter ;-) But it was
worse it ...

Did I get this? My alu-flanges won't roll all at the same time, but I don't
care about this. The 4549-solution seems to be helpful! (I just checked the
instruction scan)

I took me lots of time to get the BR 10 save of derailings. It is a real
challenge to make such big engines "playable", Pudie - another 8-wider - has
similar experiences with derailing of steam engines.
