All,
I posted some new creations today on Brickshelf. Some of you probably saw
them run at Brickfest!
Intermodal Car(s)
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5664
This is a set of 5 articulated cars. Interesting factoid: Even though there
are technically 5 cars, there are only 6 trucks and the railroads consider
all 5 to be a single car!
I am working on rendering these in POVRAY. As soon as I find a good angle
for all 5, I will post those pics as well. Additionally, please let me know
what you think about the containers. I ran out of time to do really nice
ones before Brickfest, so I am still working on better version. 4 wide just
doesn't seem to look quite right...
Centerbeam Car
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5663
After working with James Mathis on some concepts for this car, I built his
version off of a .dat file. Looks great! James retains his title as SNOT
master. (Not sure that he wanted that title....)
Hopper Cars
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5665
James Trobaugh's hopper car pictures on Brickshelf provided the inspiration
for my black and gray versions. James and I compared our version side by
side at Brickfest and they were almost identical!
As always, please let me know what you think!

| It was pretty cool seeing Jakes version of the hoppers, kind of spooky seeing how similar they were. I was amazed that he was able to copy them so well from the simple pictures I posted. The best part is that I got to see what they'd look like in (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

While they don't have the angled sidewall (you used low-slope roof bricks for that part), I really like the look, and it puts the clamps at the correct height. The design also makes good (...)
