Hi All,

Last weekend I went to an annual Model train show mainly to see if I
could find anyone with a similar interest in Lego trains. 80% of people
I spoke to thought I was talking about Duplo trains and did not know
that Lego produced "mains" powered train sets. The other 20% remembered
them but had not heard of any active members who built them in the last
10 years. A rather discouraging result. But after 2 1/2 hours of of
questioning every stall keeper I found one person who had enjoyed
building the trains 20 years ago and had passed the collection onto his
daughter. He didn't think she still played with the sets but thought she
still had them and I could give him a ring in a week or two and he would
endeavour to locate them....I can hardly wait.

Most of the people I spoke to suggested that if I wanted to increase
interest in Lego trains, I should put on a display showing their full
potenial. Can anyone give me some advice on what layouts would work?

It would be nice to display the 12V system but as it is no longer
available would just put people off the idea.

I've had a look at what John Mathis has produced in the way of custom
rollingstock, but need help with realistic layouts, maybe on multiple
controllers.

(...) Take a look at the PNLTC and GMLTC layouts. Those may be a bit big for what one person can do, but they'll give you ideas. Then look at the work of Robin Werner for ideas about what one person can achieve. PNLTC: (URL) (I need to index these): (...) (26 years ago, 5-May-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) That is what I find when I "do" train shows, the most common comment is "I didn't know that LEGO did trains". I let the children control the trains, I've just got some new power adapters to limit the power to 7.5V rather than 9V it results in (...) (26 years ago, 9-May-99, to lugnet.trains)
