I'll try to make a picture later this evening. Meanwhile I'll try to
describe the designs a little better:
The first design goes like this: when the gravel drops from a conveyor belt
it drops into collectors seperated by a sloped surface. From one side to the
other it looks like this: wall, slope from the bottom up, slope down back to
the bottom, wall. The conveyor belt drops gravel on the peak of the slope,
deviding the gravel over the two collectors. A small 'trapdoor' at the
bottom of each collector enables to unload the collectors into a hopper or
dump truck.

The second design uses a collector from which a conveyor belt gathers
gravel. The belt lifts the gravel and eventually drops the gravel down a
chute. Inside the chute a switching mechanism is located (in the shape of
sloped bricks that either block the path to divert the direction the gravel
drops or let the gravel drop straight down). This way the gravel falls into
the hopper or the dump truck.

The first design 'collects' the gravel and dumps when trapdoor is opened.
The second design dumps the gravel when the conveyor belt is active and the
switch depends if the gravel drops into the hopper or the dump truck.

Hello Frank, Why not make a silo with the small trap door, simillar to your first design, but with only one compartment and also one discarge opening. When you position this discarge opening in exactly in the middle between the rail track and road (...) (24 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build)
