Roof building (was Re: The Royal Train Website)

(...) Can anyone tell me how you can build roofs with the plates like you can see in he url Larry ponts out as one of his favourite pictures? I tried to figure it out, but I don't come further as putting them together with the "car-element" (I dont (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Turntables (was: The Royal Train Website)

(...) Larry, thanks for the pointers. I just got trains for the first time this December and this coupled with talking to Jim Rosikiewicz about gearing problems for his turntable at the last GardenSLUG meeting has had me thinking about how to do (...)   Re: 4.5 Volt straight track (p/n 3228), different versions ?

(...) <snippage> (...) (taking a shot into the dark) Might it have something to do with simplifying the mold process for that part. By elminating those 'thru the rail' slots, they now have/had a more simple molding operation. Same might be true of (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC: Bridges for Trains

(...) Dude, you need to scale those pics way way down... and then repost them. I couldn't wait around for the first one to D/L. And remember, Kevin's bandwidth for brickshelf is being donated, let's not push our Loch, er, luck. The thumbnails look (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

  Re: The Royal Train Website

(...) It's complex but not undoable. Several people/orgs have done it. The "old" (1) "main" (2) GMLTC layout had a turntable as well. Mindstorms actuated/animated. I believe the indubitable J1(3) has expounded on how it worked. It was pretty nifty (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

Re: 4.5 Volt straight track (p/n 3228), different versions ?

(...) But why would Lego create a new mold, to continue making a part that worked perfectly well as it was? The change prevents the piece from being backwards-compatible with 4.5v track, and doesn't seem to offer any advantages in structural (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 4.5 Volt straight track (p/n 3228), different versions ?

(...) part (...) Yep. The non slotted ones are from sets that did not use it as train track, as the ties fit into the slots. I believe that 6761 is not unique in having pieces like this, but don't hold me to it! James P (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

  4.5 Volt straight track (p/n 3228), different versions ?

Today, I was looking at a 6761 with the thought of parting a few out. That set contains two parts that I would describe as a 1 x 16 tile with a raised serated edge lengthwise on the top. Examination of the bottom shows a p/n of 3228. Partsref tells (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)
