GMLTC layout on its way to Carlsbad!

It's official: The GMLTC train layout is on its way to LEGOLAND Carlsbad. The big truck pulled away from my house around 10 minutes ago. Hopefully it doesn't get lost in "the system", or our display won't be nearly as impressive... ;-) Hope to see (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce) !

Re: New Pics 4-8-8-4 Big Boy

(...) Stacy, Thats a fantastic model. I think thats one of the best escusses for wider radius turns that I have seen. I thought my Diesal Loco took the turns tuff. I do like your solution to get it around the corner though, very nice. I think you (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) remarks (...) Thank you Harvey, can't wait to see the pics. My current project is an African-Garrett 4-8-4-4-8-4. I am at about 40%. Are you modeling the gas-turbine after a particular locomotive? Stacy (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Caboose to go with my recently completed Locomotive.

Hmm.. Mr. Dictionary says Moose isn't an English word, it's Algonquin. Not fair game! Caboose is more Germanic, Dutch 'kabuis' being in that family along with English, so it still proves there's no telling about the rules. Sticking with English, (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Display at Greenberg's Great Train and Collectible Toy Shows

(...) Hey- I forgot to give the NGLTC credit for the buckets... I got the idea from their website. We just use sand and rocks to hold the sticks in ours- it makes them easier to transport. We've had the same problem with the lack of a lower rope, no (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: New lego Club in Missouri

(...) Cool! I wish I was closer to you guys, I'd definitely participate. I'm in the suburban Chicago area, about 5hrs away. With the gas prices now days, I doubt I could make it down before school starts (I'm going to college in Boston now). But (...) (...) way (...) Suz, I agree the newest one (4561) isn't by itself a great set. But considering the affect you get when you put say 2 or 3 of them together, you get a fairly decent looking train. My advice is go ahead and get 9v train complete, (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.us.nelug, lugnet.loc.us.ma.bos, lugnet.trains)

(...) about $75- Jeff (...) An cost effective solution I found to the skirts (if the show doesn't require fire proof) are using colored bed sheets. I bought a few packs of green single bed sheets at Walmart for around $4 each. Then I split the (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.trains.org)
