(...) Thanks :-) The 7760 is a really nice locomotive, too bad it's too expensive (for me, that is) to get one. So I've build one myself using some 12V stuff I have. -Frank (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Good points...going from 700 to 1200 pieces would be 500 piece increase, or $57.50 increase based on an 11.5¢ per piece estimate. Which would be right around $200. But $200 is alot of money, and many people already balk at the $150 price tag. If it (...) (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) snip the rest of the answer Thanks, I was basing my guess on the slang blower = supercharger; I couldn't remember if the SD40-2 were turbo/supercharged. No need to answer that one I can look it up when I get home. I have to laugh...what is a (...) (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: My EMD SD40-2

(...) No, the blower is a massive device that provides air, via ducting, to the traction motors to keep them cool. The ducting can be rather elaborate, since the motors are mounted on the trucks (side hung and connected via gears to their drive (...) (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Actually, it is both worse and better than that. Going 8 wide means going longer, too. That means that trains will be 78% larger, assuming that height remains the same. I would figure that it would be about twice as big as a 6 wide train. (...) (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Frank, nice 7760 Mark II

I just went to the rest of your train site. I really liked your remake of the 7760. I especially like the way you improvised the color scheme based on the doors that you had. Very nice. Chris (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)
