Re: Pulling power of different train systems

(...) The quality of the rubber is definitely a critical factor for friction, but it is not the only factor. I've found with a normal 10020, one motor, pulling a few Santa Fe coaches, the wheels will spin excessively (especially if you have a slight (...) (15 years ago, 27-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: An Arctic Adriatic... (2-6-4)

(...) Nice build in and of itself, but I have to say the steam coming out of the stack is a fantastic touch. Benn (15 years ago, 27-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) --snip-- (...) --snip-- (...) Great video, Ben :) I watched it all the way through which is a bit rare for me. An interesting test would be the new motor with the old ridged tracks (since they are compatible). You may get really high traction. (...) (15 years ago, 25-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Yeah, there it is. Fantastic. I just love good LEGO CAD renders! (...) Okay, I did it. Thanks. There is a lot of great stuff there! JOHN (15 years ago, 25-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pulling power of different train systems

(...) Hi Ted, thanks for your feedback. (...) That would in fact have been favourable. My test rig suffered under the effects of friction in the 3 wheels, which lead the wire. I have tried to minimize this by using high diameters. It would also be (...) (15 years ago, 25-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pulling power of different train systems

(...) Very interesting experiment with plenty of variables to consider. It has my mental wheels turning... It would be interesting to see this done with a <https://www.schoolo...T530CAT536 "pull type spring scale"> to measure the force... It would (...) (15 years ago, 25-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: An Arctic Adriatic... (2-6-4)

(...) Great build, Ted, and what a perfect loco for bringing out every X-mas to run around the tree! Thanks for "doing your part" and sharing here! :-) It would be fun for everyone who runs a LEGO train under their tree to share pics of those (...) (15 years ago, 24-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  An Arctic Adriatic... (2-6-4)

"Hi. My name is Ted, and I'm a Lugnet Train Forum lurker. It has been nearly two years since my last post..." =) With the recent discussion on increasing the forum activity, I thought I'd do my part and post this recent MOC here. Those of you on (...) (...) Grüße, Ben! Good to hear from you! (URL) (...) This is a great video, and hilarious at the end! LOL (...) Thanks for posting, Ben! I hope to see you and HoMa, et al, around LUGNET a little more in the future! JOHN (15 years ago, 24-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Reducing voltage

(...) You have to be careful here. The controller is designed to take AC or DC, but the input diodes that that convert the AC to DC are only rated for 1 Amp (1000 milliampres). Make sure your transformer/wallwart is not rated for more than this. (...) (15 years ago, 24-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics)

  BBB Medium drivers

I recently made some crude but perfectly useable versions of the BBB medium drivers: both flanged and blind. They're a fair bit smaller than Ben's originals and make extensive use of primitives. <https://sites.googl...elgambort/ (URL) Since BS (...)   Re: Reducing voltage

(...) Hello, you can put AC or DC voltage at the input of the regulator with no problem as long as you don't put more than 9VAC~14VDC. The internal circuit will take both. So a quick fix that put 4.5~5V DC at the input will ouput about 3~3.2VDC at (...) (15 years ago, 23-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Reducing voltage

(...) I think this is how you want to do it. A simple solution would be to go to Radio Shack, and buy a couple large ceramic resistors. (not sure the values you'd want, but something low). Then, take a normal 9v wire, cut it, and insert the (...) (15 years ago, 23-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Reducing voltage

(...) Years ago PNLTC used to do this for the kids table at the show. From what I recall, we just drove a screw though the controller at about the 4th notch in the black area on each side to keep it from turning too far. It is a very long lasting, (...)
