  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

I've found the deck can be pretty insubstantial; even in minifig scale, the truss carries the weight. The Notre Dame Bridge is about 320 studs long and has been up for over a year now: (URL) At least, I have heard no news of its collapse. It can (...)   Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) (URL) This bridge> had a main span of 96 studs, and could have been more if I had more room on the end to attach the main cables further from the base of the tower. It could also be doubled in length by building the same from the other end. (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Yeah, after I built this I realized that I had the technic pins at the top too far apart and should move them each in slightly to form a triangle. Right now the track and track bed are supporting most of the load I think. I pulled out my old (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Dave- If you want your truss construction to actually support the bridge, you should convert your trapezoids into triangles (i.e., break them up by adding verticals in the middle). (Actually, the way many of us do this still makes trapezoids, (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Bruce- You are quite right, but my error is in studs, not feet. (I had an in-the-back-of-my-mi...uite-right feeling even as I wrote the post(s). I think the problem was that I knew that each single tower section was 192 studs long but in the (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock...

(...) Hi Tim, I meant that I reposted in the correct forum, and will continue there. Thanks, Mark (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock available at my BrickLink store.

(...) Hey, I don't give a newt. t'other Tim might. Although the post hasn't been moved, ( I don't think anyone but admins can move posts.) but don't worry about it. Tim (David) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock...

(...) Thanks John. I do very much appreciate the grace extended here. I've also seen these kinds of mistakes handled badly. So, did they also make this guy you speak of cut down the tallest tree with a herring? Ha! Mark (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock available at my BrickLink store.

(...) No worries. I'm just glad I got you before the (URL) Evil Tims> did-- they can be sticklers about things like this. Once, I saw them turn a guy into a newt for cross-posting improperly! (he got better) JOHN (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock available at my BrickLink store.

(...) Okay, I moved it to the market forum. Sorry about that guys--my bad. Mark (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock available at my BrickLink store.

(...) Sorry. I come to LUGNET a lot, but it's been a LONG time since I posted here. I think that must have changed. Is there a way to move this, cancel this, or should I just leave it now that it's done? Thanks, Mark (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Custom LEGO rolling stock available at my BrickLink store.

(...) Hi, Mark! They look really good, but it is bad form to post advertisements outside of the (URL) market groups>, even though your item is train related. It is a violation of the TOS. Thanks! JOHN (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Custom LEGO rolling stock available at my BrickLink store.

Hi all, I have uploaded a number of my custom LEGO Santa Fe trains into my BrickLink store inventory: (URL) for looking, and if you don't look, then I hope you have a good reason, like you're just sitting down to watch the next episode of "LOST" or (...)   Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Aww, c'mon Bruce. All guys like to exaggerate the length of their LEGO bridges when telling others about them. Especially when talking with the ladies. ;-) Sorry Ted...Bruce kinda set me up for this one in a round-about way. :-) -Dave (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Sorry wrong math the bridge were A 10ft (12 32x32 Baseplates) (384 studs) B 15 ft (18 32x32 Baseplates) (576 studs) Also forgot link to current bridge (URL) mike (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: IT'S TOO DARN QUIET!!!!!!

(...) John, Ok, I usually let JT start the NGLTC threads, but I wanted to make things less quiet... As for Brickshelf...well, I forgot my password, and never got a reply for a password reset...and, there was that whole "Brickshelf is closing" (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Ted, Sorry, I can not stand it anymore. A 48 stud baseplate is 15" and a fraction. Two at 96 studs would be 30" and a fraction. Four at 192 studs would be 5 feet and a fraction. Therefore 384 studs would be ten feet 3/4 of an inch. Bruce (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Wow! This has all been great information and the pictures are wonderful. I'm really excited to get a closer look at some of these bridges at various shows this summer. :-) I might even have to get out to somewhere where SCLTC is displaying (...)   Re: Long Span Suspension Bridge?

(...) Mike- The 192 stud (10 ft) cable-stayed bridged that I posted a picture of earlier in this thread has a middle open span of 96 studs (5 ft). When we originally designed it, we made the deck just 5 plates thick with the intention of having the (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
