  Re: Rutland Alco RS-3 #205

(...) Great work, Elroy. Like Tim David mentioned, the 4x4 wedge on the nose is great and I really like the trucks. Could you perhaps take some close-ups of them? (17 years ago, 14-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Jet Train

I found this at HumanDescent today. Yes I know it's not real, but I had to share it anyway. So if anyone needs an idea, here's one: (URL) sjf (17 years ago, 13-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Rutland Alco RS-3 #205

(...) Hey, nice work :) I too like the trucks, but I wonder about their durability. It looks like the "L" plates are held on by minifig neck bracket thingies... I hope that will be strong enough because I like the look. Also, you might have to (...) (17 years ago, 13-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Precedent!

(...) Amen - my snotty brother! Yes, LBG-track can be regarded as a 100% pure LEGO solution. In principle one might support the opinion, that LEGO gave up 9V in order to push us onto LGB track.   Model Railway and Hobby Exhibition Langwarrin

MUGS/M>ltc will be displaying at the Model Railway and Hobby Exhibition at Langwarrin later this month. This is not just a train show, so there will be lots of interesting stuff to look at.   Surprise! ULUG will be attending the Train Show in Idaho Falls, Idaho

To all, ULUG received a lated and surprising invitation to attend a train show in Idaho Falls, Idaho over the weekend. So Reed, David and I will be traveling to Idaho today to set-up. For some reason it did not post my reply yesterday. I want to automate the points.   Rutland Alco RS-3 #205

After working out how to build the Rutland boxcar, I decided to work on one of the Rutland's diesel locomotives to pull it. An RS-3 looked like a nice challenge, and Rutland owned a few of them.   Re: 9v train motor compared to IR train motor

(...) I don't think adding weight to the engine would help (the engine weighs about 1 kg). The wheels weren't slipping. The motor just slowed to a stop because the train was too heavy. Chris (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 9v train motor compared to IR train motor

AFAIK is the IR motor much lighter, did you try to compensate using those lead bricks (2x2x6 like in the 12V trains)?! My santa fe is also not doing so well in comparison to the 7760 (which is the best train in balance/pulling a heavy train IMHO). (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)
