| Can "new trains" ever be a bad thing? Doubtful, but here are some observations based on the pic below that explore this question: (URL) It appears that the battery motor has metal flanges like the 9 volt motor. Probably good; will last longer than (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Yes, I've seen it yet too, it's a very good idea for an item, but I don't like the new big truck line, that can't run in the city roads (see ferrari truck), and most of all the bridge, that seems to be one piece...I prefer to build the same (...) | (...) Best place is probably this current thread (URL) It was announced last year that the new trains will be battery powered and use some form of infra red control, however exactly how this will be implemented is still open to speculation (again (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

I have been luke warm about the IR-controled battery-powered trains; however, it had occured to me that I could use this system to run a trolley on the same line as a train, but then I thought of something.
