Re: Help needed on German trains

(...) Oh! Thank you. Really interesting. I hope I remember enough German pronounciation to do justice to them ;) I'll also add this link to BrickWiki's train terms and German trains articles. Tim (19 years ago, 13-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Help needed on German trains

Also, this site is an invaluable reference: (URL) I'm a native German speaker, and I have fond memories of my Dad and I building a little Marklin train layout. The German words are often hilarious in their pronunciation and number of syllables, and (...) (19 years ago, 13-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Help needed on German trains

Dear German speakers, I recently visited Koeln and saw some extrmely interesting EMUs there operating as commuter trains for the service. Unfortunately my train finding skills aren't so good and are even worse when I don't know the correct words in (...) (19 years ago, 13-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.de, FTX)

Hello all, My copy of the instruction booklet for set #4551 - "Crocodile Engine" contains five extra pages with full building instructions for one of the alternate models shown (image top left) on the box backside. I noticed that all instruction (...) (19 years ago, 13-Oct-05, to lugnet.db.scans, lugnet.trains)

(...) I initially planned on abandoning building with LEGO® ,due in part to their announcement of the new colors. (this was two years ago) Also, the demands of the railroad service took some getting used to. While browsing the bedroom closet one (...) (19 years ago, 12-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Harvey, the ALCO looks great, nice and clean, and nocomplicated construction. Who needs instructions. I think I'll try one in WP Orange, grey and black. So why did you wait for bley? Was it a better match for the prototype? Mat (19 years ago, 12-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains)

  ALCo Roadswitcher

Greetings, After yet another CSX-induced absence from the LEGO® scene, I've dusted off my beloved ALCo locomotive and decided to upgrade it using the new 'bley' elements, as well as reshape the roof by using the rounded bricks found in the #8654 (...) (19 years ago, 11-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Indian EMU

Sorry to respond to my own post. Due to having enough feedback suggesting that a seven-wide version of this train would be much, much better, I went back and redesigned it. Here is the new wider version (2 URLs) front car> (URL) car> (URL) front (...) (19 years ago, 10-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Indian EMU

(...) Very nice Tim. How did you do the corner of the roof at the front? It looks like the curve piece and the 2nd slope conflict. (19 years ago, 10-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Indian EMU

(...) Sure, but you can't defy the laws of geometry, Captain! The shape of the loco is clearly a rectangle, so if you chose to limit yourself and create it 6 wide, then (as Lar pointed out) it needs to be a lot shorter. So short, in fact, that it (...)   Re: Indian EMU

  Re: Indian EMU

(...) Well, maybe precise was too exact a term:-) But I figure it like this: I assume a scale of 1:48 (which is "O" scale). O scale model railroad locos are 8 studs wide, but LEGO track gauge is wider than O scale track gauge. So in essence, LEGO (...) (19 years ago, 10-Oct-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
