john, the secret to ascii art is to use a fixed width font (such as courier) of course, those of us who use ie5 might have trouble viewing this ascii art done with the 'correct' fixed width font because the #@$%&* program refuses to display it in (...) Mike- At the GMLTC, we use about a 30 x45" table (= to exactly 6 large gray baseplates) with metal folding legs. I have given some thought to the tables as well. I think Ben's design is a winner! However, in planning some train layouts (never built) I have found (and others suggested to me) that 3 baseplates deep leaves a lot to be desired, especially if the (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Yep, that's my design. At a minimum, I suggest 30.25" x 60.5" for long linear runs. When I need extra depth, I stack them two deep. We (PNLTC) also have a few tables that are ~40" x ~80. The larger size gives you a pretty good amount of space for a (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Since the Halloween buckets came out last year, I have wanted to build something modeled in orange. Several of us seem to be on the same page these days to model passenger trains, specifically TGVs! :-) This is excellent. I'm am enjoying seeing all (...) (25 years ago, 3-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

one thing about it. i think that photos should not be essential. because there are people who may not be able to get photos but may be able to get ldraw designs etc etc etc. i for one have made a large collection of dat files of train related stuff (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

My suggestion would be to have a disc that people could buy for a nominal fee, say $10, that would have all that information on it so that people would not have to be online to get it and wouldn't have to download for 10 minutes to find out if they (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

I'm seriously considering making the trip but I'm not sure what day(s) would be the best to attend. If I can't get a reasonable price on a NW flight I'd probably drive up to NW Chicago after work on Thursday and then the rest of the trip Friday, or (...)
