  Re: lugnet.trains.org newsgroup?

Larry Pieniazek: (...) Difficult to tell, but critical mass isn't much of a metric here as it is on Usenet, mainly because groups are archived and easily past-browseable and because it is so easy to create new groups and receive them as mailing (...) (...) Okay, I'm a dufis. Shoulda read further back in the thread. Sorry about the waste. -Tom McD. (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.trains)

  Re: lugnet.trains.org newsgroup?

(...) Hrmm. I could see where that would be convenient for the clubs themselves with spelled-out geographical description to avoid the alphabet soup for newbies. IMO, if you start .trains.org you might want to consider which groups could also have (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.trains)

  Re: lugnet.trains.org newsgroup?

(...) I'm not against it either but I think if club related stuff were off in another group then I'd probably never read it since I'm not in any club. And that would remove a possible incentive to get me interested in joining/starting/attending a (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.trains)

  Re: lugnet.trains.org newsgroup?

I'm not against it, but do we have critical mass yet? Also, what problem is it trying to solve? Is trains too noisy already (I can't tell since I'm part of the noise) or are you thinking ahead? (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.trains)

  Re: 12V compatible with 9V

(...) Changes 110 V to 220 or vice versa. Allows you to use a speed controller/trafo on mains that don't match what it was made for. For instance I would need a step up if I got something from the continent (and a plug adaptor) because US mains (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: lugnet.trains.org newsgroup?

Great idea, Todd. Helping other groups get off the ground is a core part of PNLTC's Mission Prospectus and it certainly makes sense for any and all groups to coordinate -- ultimately, I foresee this as much more clout in dealing with TLG. Dan/PNLTC (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Set 113 (wasHelp needed to identify parts

Hello Bill and Mark, the blue bricks decorated with city-name logos suggests that you have set #113. This set featured a blue 4.5v motor and battery case, boxcar-type POST car, and a passenger car with printed bricks HAMBURG, BASEL, and GENOA. Ample (...)   Re: Help needed to identify parts

Hi Bill, Have a look at set 153 which uses these double wheel set bogies. Between the baseplate and wheelsets there is an old style round turntable I didn't know you were into trains. Mark H. (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 12V compatible with 9V

(...) Thank you for your promt answer! What is a step-up/step-down transformer? I am getting the transformer and tracks, but I guess I will use it on the 9V track as I have more tracks for 9V. I think I will try to use the light posts from the 12V (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)
