   Hello,

A while ago, when I was deeper into my diner phase, I built a diner inspired by Mickey’s in St. Paul, MN. I was inspired to build it by looking at the works of painter John Baeder. (His work also inspired my AlMac’s Diner, which I later found out used to be owned by my family).

I wasn’t really thrilled with the way my version of Mickey’s came out, so I didn’t post pictures of it, until now. I decided recently that it isn’t all that bad.

Here is my version:

Here is the painting I based it off by John Baeder:

I think a little better presentation and maybe some signage would help out my version quite a bit.

Just the same, here it is!

Thoughts and comments are always appreciated.

Hey, that’s a peach, hon! I’ve had that diner on my radar for a future build because it’s local and cool. You’ve done a great job, Jonathan! I hope in one of those BL orders you are getting 20 of these in dark red;-)

Here’s a cool pic of it I found. Lighting would be cool....

I have another diner planned and also two new buildings that I am very excited about almost ready to go. (2-3 weeks)

These two new buildings are: 1. Not diners 2. Not Firehouses 3. Not based on buildings in the NYC area (one is from Michigan and one is from Massachusetts)

More to come on those.

Thanks for reading a rather longish post. I had a meeting scheduled at work get postponed and I needed to use up some time. . . I guess I could have done some work.

Perish the thought, and thanks for sharing!

JOHN

(...) Thanks! Good eye! Yes, when I built this I didn't know those parts were available in Dark Red. I'll have to make the switch. (...) So, cool. I agree. I have done a (very) little research on neon lighting kits for modelers. Still poking ideas (...) (18 years ago, 5-Dec-06, to lugnet.town, FTX)
