this moc made its formal debut at the parlugment meeting last night and made it home safely to be photographed.

a minor french manor in what could be somewhere in france perhaps. with small courtyard entrance and ever-present fountain. surrounded by formal and informal garden settings with apple orchard, meandering pathways, reflecting pool and formal flowerbeds, lemon tree and gazebo.

the roof is removed to reveal 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (hence the “minor” rating) and a large upstairs hallway attained via a twin curved staircase. twinned hallways end at small arched balconies overlooking the formal downstairs rooms. along the back of the chateau at the lower level is the formal ballroom with floor to ceiling windows and baronial fireplaces at either end. the overhang is an arched balcony with french doors.

in hindsight, it would have been nice to have built a removable second level but the plated floor fell right in the middle of the arch and trellised fence design which i didn’t want to compromise. your imagination will have to suffice. when i destroy the moc, i may post more photos of the lower level but as there is no furniture in the moc itself, it makes for a less than interesting layout.

enjoy.

(...) I was one of many who had the pleasure of seeing this in person last night. This is a beautiful MOC, and we all spent a lot of time taking in all the intricate details. Love the fountain, the garden, the apple and lemon trees, the open (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.org.ca.parlugment)

(...) Just commented on your warehouse loft MOC, and saw this one. Very nice one here too, especially the garden area. Did you have to do a bit of study to get the french style right? So what's your next architectural triumph going to be? :) John (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)
