Greetings,
Now that I have my LEGO-dedicated half of the basement rec room and see a light
at the end of my seemingly endless parts sorting I've actually been building!
I just posted my recently completed 1920's Fire Engine inspired by the 1929
American LaFrance 100, 1934 Sanford/Ford Cub Jr and other classic trucks. It
uses about 340 pieces and is completely outfitted with pumps, compartments and
firefighting gear of the times.

The shape of the body is wonderful.  The unusual angle used for the front
fenders is brilliant.

There is some *minor* modification of parts for
realism (read: drilling of a few 1x1 plates) to make hoses, nozzles and a wye.
The hoses are shoestrings, drilled 1x1 plates and technic bushing with a couple
drops of hot glue.

I used the shoe string technique a while back on a larger scale engine.  I
ended up using Technic connectors (1/2 grey) as nozzles.

I guess someone else posted a link to your fire engine already.  But as I
already mentioned in this posting:

I really enjoyed seeing your work.  Without exaggeration I would say that it
is one of my 10 favorite original models that I've seen.  I hope we'll see
more fire apparatus from you.

Best regards,
Allan B.

(...) I'm not a big fan of mee toooo but I gotta say me too! We've seen a number of trucks of this era or just before it that used plate hinges for front fenders but never this use of the quarter round part I don't think. It's a bit thick but you (...) (22 years ago, 3-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)
