Paul, Hopefully this will answer your question... There are 12 different Space Port mini-figs according to my collection (and Brickset). The Brickset descriptions are listed below. Maybe you can't get horses as conveniently, but TLG still makes them. If you're a club member, you can buy <set:6013 Samauri Swordsman> for $2.00 US from S@H. Hey, I've now got two sets on my desk. I've had a little orange Throwbot (Flare) at work for a couple of days. I had recently cleared off all my other toys and he looked a little lonely.
