Hi Bionicle Fans out there,

hopefully someone at LEGO Direct will read this too and can clarify the things.

However, I am seriously dissapointed now as I had to find out that LEGO has
put in some nastiness here - what rotten luck!

I second Christian's opinion: #8530 is a total rip-off by Lego. My kids bought some of these masks to find out that they have bought
once again the masks with the same colours that are already included in the basic TOA sets (browm mask of Pohatu etc..). Basically
they made the same experience as Christian did. Though I'm quite liberal, and my children are generally allowed to buy what they
want from their pocket money, I have now forbidden to buy more copies of #8530. I hate to see that Lego is ripping off children, but
this is exactly what Lego does. Shame on you, Lego.

In Europe the randomly assorted mask bags (#8530) came out in february. I
picked up many of these bags already. To be excactly I do have more than • 70
of these bags, which means I spent about US$150 for these masks so far • for a
collection of about 150 masks.

It is more than obvious that these bags are *not at all* randomly
assorted!

Maybe the mask bag are in a certain prodution order, a certain number now, a
couple weeks later some different masks, a so on and so forth. Only a couple
different masks are availible now, both in the cans and the separate bags.
Probably done so they can stretch the product line over 2 years or how ever
long. I bought 10 of each Throwbot/Slizers from a variety of sources: Lego
S@H, K-mart(online and Off), KBkids(online and Off), Etoys, Target (Online)
and All I ever got for the original 8 were 2 pip and 3 pip discs.(NONE
OTHERS) I didn't do this a one time either, I spent 18 months from start to
finish, and I am still going (Need 3 more Flares- why is he hard to find) So
either all my sets even over a period of time all came from a first
prodution run, or I am exteremly unlucky. Maybe with the releases of each
new "Web Event" they will change prodution lines or runs.

Just my $00.02

No matter what Lego says, the distribution of discs in the Throwbot/Slizer
sets was not Random.  The pictures of the sets that were on the on-lin catalog
showed exactly the discs that came with the sets.  The extra disc boxes aren't
quite random either, as you are guaranteed to get one disc of each pip value (2
through 6) and only if you're lucky, a 7 pip disc in addition to or instead of
the 6 pip disc.  The major problem with this is everybody already has all eight
2 nad 3 pip discs from the sets, but you end up getting more of them just to
get the higher pip discs.  What a crock.

You know your right I sould have know that the extra disc box has THE EXTRA
DISCS! what an oversite on my part. So if that was the case, and all the
current mask bags have the same masks, the only way to get new ones is to
have Lego produce more. One quick guestion- what masks have already been
released and are they in any certian order when compared to the back of the
bag. Maybe this is how they will roll out with the news one. (Another
question have any of the turaga maskx or the evil masks been in the bags)

Uh, no.  It's called "collectability".  The higher pip value ones were more
rare that the lower pip value ones.

It's the same thing done with Magic cards, Pokemon cards... well, just about
any kind of card, really.  You get lots of more common cards for every rarer
card.  If you want all the cards- including all the rare ones- you either have
to trade for the other rare ones, or end up with a lot of more common ones.

If you feel ripped off by that, you should probably not bother to try to
collect them all.  Collecting isn't for everyone.

The throwbots each come with two certain disks: One of their disks, and one of
another throwbots disk, always the same (e.g. Jet comes with one of his disks
(two pip), and with one of Granite's disks (3pip).). 4,5,6,7, ect. disks only
come in the extra disk boxes. Sorry you wasted $150 for a whole lot of 2 and 3
disks. On the bright side, you could save five bucks on a Checkers set (no,
wait... the board will cost you too.). Uh, let me know if you don't want any
ball joints ;-) .
