If you have any questions or comments, let me know.

Do you have a definition for what percentage of non-Bionicle elements
disqualifies a MOC?  I, for instance, have built renditions of the Transformers
G1 Autobots Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme from the Bionicle Bucket (imagine
they were Vahki-ized in the Web of the Visorak) -- no photos online yet, sorry
-- and their "distinctive accents" consist of Technic struts, wheels, windows,
bricks, etc.

(I'm also working on Megatron, but the available colors don't work as well for
him.)

I ask because, stylistically, they're quite different from the Bionicle customs
I saw at BrickFest 2004 or in the first issue of BrickJournal.  Thanks.

Regarding the question whether it is a Bionicle MOC or not -

If the majority of parts are Bionicle or related parts such as technic, then it
can be considered a Bionicle MOC. Having a large number of non Bionicle parts
does not necessarily disqualify it from this category. The MOC also does not
have to be related to the Bionicle story; Autobots are alright.

One question you need to ask yourself is would my MOC be better in another theme
i.e. mecha or maybe space. If your MOC is largely a brick based creation, then
it would probably be better in mecha. If your creation is based on parts that
have an organic/mechanical feel, then Bionicle may be the right theme.

To use an example, take Bryce McGlone's spider MOC recently posted in
lugnet.build.mecha. This can be considered a Bionicle MOC even though the black
pieces that make up the skin come from non-Bionicle sets.

P.S. Original post was not cross posted as it was intended as a feeler to judge
and stimulate initial interest. The full announcement post will be coming
shortly.
