Hi all!

I'm not used to inform the NG about my MOCs, but this time I felt the need
to reply to this:

http://homepage2.nifty.com/KIBUN/MindStorms/Fload.html

In fact I did, some month ago, a threaded bulldozer, pneumatic- and
micromotor-acted.
It was the minifig-technic scale-fever period, and I wasn't immune :-)
Moreover, I really had the need to build something with those lovely small
pneumatic pistons :-))
You can see the bulldozer in the pics that those deep links point to:

..and so on: just change the number of the file like this: image-xx.jpg -->
image-04.jpg - numbers range from 1 to 15 (2-6-7 don't exist).

The controller isn't in the pics, because I feel shame about it - it's
really awful!
So just picture yourself the one you prefer, or, maybe, think about Fabio
Sali's one (ciao Fabio!).

Features are the following:
1- two channel pneumatic control: one for lowering/rising the bucket, and
one to tilt it.
2- two micromotors, one for each thread, to achive skid-steer capabilities
(difficult words for an easy task :-))
3- the bucket is mantained in line (approximately - because of the lengh
variations of the piston) during the lowering/rising operation with a simple
quadrilater system. Yep, it's more difficult to explain that to appreciate
from the pics.

Well, it works quite good: gear doesn't slip too much on the micromotor own
"attach ring" - the gear is mantained in place by an axle on the opposite
side.
Pneumatic power is enough to rise - I suppose - 5 times its weight ;-P
The only bad thing about building such small MOCs is that it can't actually
steer so much if I don't follow it with the controller: the friction, and
consequently the grip on the floor is low, as it's weight.

Ok, that's all, enjoy :-)
SteP

(...) I love this little thing Stefano, very clever indeed, I tend to build to the biggest scale I can (i.e the biggest wheels I've got, the biggest for the of bricks I have etc.) - I think it's very skilful of you to get all that functionality in (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I have a question: Is the 16t idler gear driven directly from the micro motor? I don't think I've ever seen that done before! ROSCO (22 years ago, 24-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)
