So I ordered the 8475 RC 4x4

http://guide.lugnet.com/set/8475

(tho not a true 4x4, for the front wheels are unpowered)

I put the vehicle together over lunch today, and had to scrounge for
batteries, but after everything was done, let me tell you, it's alotta fun!

I put an RCX in my 8448 a few weeks back and controlled it using the RCX
remote--the 8475 is *much* more fun!

The number of new 'neat-o' pieces in the 8475 is, well, lots!  The front
steering mechanism is all one unit, with holes to add suspension points
galore!  The steering is controlled via a motor built into the main RC unit,
that has an axle hole out, so you can basically put your steering unit
wherever you wish, using a good gear train.

The rear drive motors, as someone else has noted, are very odd-shaped.  The
motor is housed at one end of an encased drive train, the other has an axle
hole.  You can put an axle thru, and have the tire wherever you wish.  The
only foreseeable issue is that these motors have alotta torque when you
throttle forward or backwards quickly, so if you use gearing after the axle
hole (instead of putting a tire right on the axle that comes off the drive
train), I can definitely see breaking of many many gears.  The motors can be
placed anywhere in your creation for they connect to the main RC unit via
RCX motor/sensor wires.

There is even a third motor output on the RC unit, which is operated by
pedals on the hand-held control unit.  What it can be used for is entirely
up to your imagination--I see LEGO BattleBot competitions in the future (I'm
gonna convince rtlToronto to arrange just that ;) )

Is the set worth 129 American?  Tough call--I can see this RC unit being
incorporated this very evening into either my 8448 or my 8466... So it's up
to you and your pocketbook.  I'm glad I got it (tho my pocketbook is not so
happy with the CDN/USA exchange rate factored in).  The idea of a *fast*,
controllable, and suspensionized RC LEGO vehicle is so appealing to me.

Yeah, it'll probably end up in the 8466 tonite :)
