Oh, I doubt studs are in danger of disappearing. Some of these new Technic
sets are obviously responses to Knex. The advantage of the LEGO Technic sets
over Knex is that the geometry is compatible to the studded brick, and there
are transition pieces (such as the original Technic beams).
