Yes, that's what I was thinking when looking at the scans of the new star wars
technic droids. There doesn't seem to be a single studded brick in these sets!
These sets look nice and have a great functionality but they don't _look_like_
lego at all. If there wasn't the lego logo on top of the box then I would
just think of them as some other brand toy.
(Actually I seen this topic discussed in some other thread and wanted to reply
to it but couldn't find it.)
In a couple years we might see the studded bricks and plates which have been
around for decades dissappear alltogether and be replaced with different kind
of connectors. While this may not actually be a bad thing because these new
pieces make the sets look more realistic, it just makes it awkward for us who
fell in love with the studded bricks when we were kids or adults and have been
building with them for all of our lives.

| (...) Dan, I think you're definitely overstating the problem. First off, the Star Wars sets you mention are Technic sets - which have always had far fewer bricks than System sets anyway. There are some things you just can't do with the brick. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic)
