| I'm building an orrery and came up with this gear train for the earth and moon. The ratio is 1:27.7777 which is as close as I could come to the actual orbit of the moon, which is 27.32268 days. That's about 1.6% difference, or about 11 hours over (...) (23 years ago, 3-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

Very useful (it needs an addendum to include the 56-tooth turntable) He uses old 14-tooth bevel gears back-to-back in several trains. I'm having to make do without (...) | Hi Don, If your gear train does not require too much torque, you could try using two rubber wheels as bevel gears. By having one tire ride on the face of the other wheel, you can get any fractional ratio you want. I've once seen a car in a museum (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)
