I had exactly the same problem with one of my wires a while ago. There is
probably an easy way to fix it by trying some of the other advice here (as
Robert said, soldering the ends should work well enough as long as the two
cables don't touch each other), but I decided to just send it to the Lego
customer support people (along with several other broken pieces) and got a
free replacement; you could try doing that as well.
