Is it available in any country in the world yet? What parts will it include? When will it be available in australia? (23 years ago, 25-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Eelco Kooiker
(...) I haven't seen any information about when it shall be released yet. Last I also saw a picture of a new expension kit: Ultimate Builders Set #3800 Anyone know info of this set? Eelco (23 years ago, 25-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Chris Fenter
(...) I didn't spot them yesterday (apologies if people already have seen this), but the RIS 2.0 & UBS are up on S@H now (in the UK at least). Not yet available, though, and there are no release dates yet. The UBS is priced at £50, the RIS 2.0 not (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

     (...) *UPDATE* U.S. S@H - UBS $60 ships 13 August RIS 2.0 £200 ships 6 July! backorders being accepted now! You lucky so-and-sos... Chris. (23 years ago, 25-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Gaurav Thakur
(...) Yeah I'm also interested in this set. Anyone know what the differences are between the 1.0/1.5 and the 2.0? Also will the infrared port have a USB connector? This is the main reason I did not buy the 1.0 or 1.5; the only serial port on my (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Adam Wood
Oooo - I was about to go out and buy 1.5... Is there anyway to upgrade 1.5 to 2, without buying the whole new set? As in some kind of software / firmware only update? Cheers.          Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Ross Crawford
They offered an upgrade from 1.0 to 1.5 that included new elements, new software / firmware, new constructopedia etc. As the hardware's the same, I'd be surprised if they don't offer a similar upgrade to 2.0. Haven't seen anything yet though. (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Tom Stangl
Is the hardware truly the same? There were rumors that 2.0 would go back to having an AC plug on the brick. If they did do that, an upgrade pack just wouldn't cut it for people that need AC power. (...) -- Tom Stangl ***(URL) Visual FAQ home (...)          Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Ross Crawford
All rumour points to the hardware being the same. The pictures at S@H don't seem to indicate the return of the adapter plug, so those 9717s will still have their place.... ROSCO (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Ross Crawford
(...) Of course, I meant 9719! ROSCO (doing his part to keep .loc.au at the top of the stats!) (23 years ago, 26-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)

Re: mindstorms RIS 2.0 —Ben Erwin
Here is a direct quote from a footnote in Chapter 1 of my book: "The building elements in RIS 1.0 differ slightly from the elements in 1.5 and 2.0. RIS 1.5 and 2.0 are identical kits. As a note to educators, the building elements in the Robotics (...) (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)
