Re: I think it's time for a motor grader! Future 8455?

I think it's time for TLC to do a mobile crane with a 3-piece boom. I've been at it for a few weeks now (okay, I'm quite ambitious: I want the boom to get 1meter high) and it's hard to get it all right. Anyway, this would be the functions (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Duq: Too much crane Already! Sets: 1) 955 2) 8854 3) 8868 4) 8443 (?) 5) 8460 Don't you think it's enough? I think so. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) You cannot have too many mobile cranes. And that's a fact ;-) A grader would be nice - there was one as an alternative model in the first Technic fork lift truck, but it was very simplistic. Jennifer Clark (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

"Bastonnade" <TBouvart@aedifica.com> wrote in message news:G7Bxt4.8H5@lugnet.com... (...) Only 955 and 8460 are decent mobile cranes. 8868 is a great set, but doesn't count. 8854? What can I say... (...) No, obviously I don't. As Jennifer said, (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Innuendo noted :-) The funny thing is that I've never really "groked" graders, to use a phrase from a previous thread. It was only recently that I had any idea how they actually worked! I suspect this is probably because I've seen plenty of (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

RE: I think it's time for a motor grader! Future 8455? too much crane

(...) I think you're talking about a third type of machine, which is a grinder. 1. Graders have a blade which is between the front and rear wheels. The blade can swing around, move left and right, and up and down as well as tilt. 2. Scrapers are (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Thanks for the clarification Ralph - some more research is needed on my part I think. There are some good pictures of a Grinder (or "Cold Planer" as they call it) here: (URL) above web site is apparently written with kids in mind but I think it is (...) (...) If you're talking about the machines used to "refresh" asphalt freeways, I think they'd be a good subject for Technic -- they already look like Technic creations. Steve (24 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)
