  8458 Silver Champion Shocks

I just got a Silver Champion and I want to know if the blue shocks that raise the panels will break or if they are the updated ones? Rob (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

RE: It's Alive! or, Building The Dinosaur

(...) Heather, As far as I know, the transformer has a plug on the end, so you should be able to go to any RadioShack and get a 9V-800mA(or so) adapter. Just be sure to check polarity. Are there any symbols near the jack on the Command Center (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: It's Alive! or, Building The Dinosaur

(...) Glad you enjoyed them! (...) My set crossed the ocean too, so my adapter is no good either. I used the batteries, although I think they're only going to last another few play sessions. (The jaw/arms movement seems to take the most power, by (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Bionicle/Roboriders/Slizers - new name for all

Here's something I've noticed, for Slizers only in America TLG has dumbed down the names. Roboriders being the notable exception. TLG dumbed down the Slizer story the whole group name and even the names of each robot. After looking at Bionicle and (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Jonathon, If it's the part I'm thinking of, there's a couple of them in the RIS set - both RIS sets in fact. (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

what sets include this part and in what colors?

The sets dont need to be current... the part I am talking about is a "modular" connector. It has 2 pegholes on the "top", and then a set of 2 pegholes on both sides folowed by 2 more sets of pegholes on the other 2 sides. The ones on top and 2 of (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Bionicle/Roboriders/Slizers - new name for all

Hi Does anybody notice that the 85xx coding is going to these little fighting guys? I would like to come up with a name to for the 85xx series , like 71xx Star Wars Any suggestions? Here's one(s) I made earlier...... LFG - Little Fighting Guys? TFG (...) (25 years ago, 27-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: It's Alive! or, Building The Dinosaur

(...) Wow...that looks really neat...increased my expectations quite a bit. I won one off an auction a week ago and am waiting for it to arrive any day now... Thanks for the pictures...now I can have something to look at and admire while I wait :-) (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

It's Alive! or, Building The Dinosaur

For Christmas I received a MIB copy of <set:8485>, the Technic Control Center II, and have built the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the second alternate model; I have posted to Brickshelf some pictures of it being built. Warning: it contains the odd blurry shot (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Can the touch sensor be used as a momentary switch? (without RCX)

(...) Unfortunately, the polarity switch is no longer available through Shop at Home. If it were, I'd pick up at least 4 of them. Ah, well- perhaps they'll start making it again. Thanks for the responses, everyone! It's bad news, but at least I (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Can the touch sensor be used as a momentary switch? (without RCX)

(...) Sorry, I'm wrong !!! I didn't notice that this rubber is a kind of resistor !! Rainer (25 years ago, 27-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Can the touch sensor be used as a momentary switch? (without RCX)

(...) It will work neither with a motor nor with a lamp (I tried that). The switch is made from conductive rubber whose resistance is too high (several hundred ohms). Jürgen (25 years ago, 27-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Can the touch sensor be used as a momentary switch? (without RCX)

(...) I may be wrong, but I opened one of them and don't find any resistor ?!?! Are there perhaps different versions of touch sensors ?? Or is the black contact in the switch the resistor ?? (Or is a 500 ohm resistor in the RCX at its input ?) (...) (25 years ago, 27-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

(...) It's like this : ^ 1 O_/_O 4 | | 2 O O 5 3 O O 6 ^ - marks the yellow button _/_ should be the switch 1 and 2 are connected 4 and 5 are connected the switch is between 1 and 4 (or 2 - 4 or 1 - 4 or 1 - 5) Understandable ????   Re: Can the touch sensor be used as a momentary switch? (without RCX)

(...) I've been thinking about this. It would be great to use it as a switch but I haven't found the logic in it yet. I've used some trial and error to try to find the correct wire positioning but I think I'll have to bring out my multimeter and (...) (25 years ago, 27-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)
