On the rear wheel steering, when I connected up the crossmember steering
dealy, it's too short.   I've re-looked over the whole steps on the rear
section and don't see anything.

the other is at about a 45 degree angle.  IT doesn't do this on the front.

Any ideas?

The front and rear steering cross-member plates should be of the same length.
