Everything in the 8888 book is
fantastic. I’ve built the “programmable” mobile crane and, in some ways, it
surpasses anything released as an official set.
In case anyone else wants to build it, here is the Ldraw file (some
unofficial parts required):

Yes, 8888 is unmatched. 2008 and 2009’s official technic sets are absolutely
laughable compared to the gems that are in there, from 26 years ago!
I did plan on building the programmable crane eventually. I don’t have any ldraw
software. Can you easily convert that file to an easy-to-read inventory?
By the way, keep it up with Technicopedia - it rocks.
Next update should feature the big cheese of all pneumatic models, and my
favorite Lego set of all time: the 8868, so it better be good ;-)
