What:  BrickFest 2000
When:  June 9-11, 2000
Where: Washington DC, USA
Web  : http://brickfest.com

...This is the final across the boards announcement about the upcoming BrickFest!!! This
is it! Its on this week!!! The first annual BrickFest is coming up in Washington DC on
June 9th -11th! Don't miss out!

...We are in the process of posting the draft schedule, finalizing who's going to be
there, getting the shirts in, and working out details of everything.

...The schedule is almost ready for draft at http://brickfest.com and includes: a
train/town display, a castle display, CastleWorld stuff, mindstorms demos and
competitions, brikwars, pirate wars, lots of prizes from The Store, workshops and
seminars, lots of building, shopping with Buffie at The LEGO Store at Potomac Mills,
building competitions, historical set displays, chats, maybe a visit from a LEGO rep, and
getting to know all the other fans out there.

...Registration, directions, hotel information, and soon the draft schedule are all
available at http://brickfest.com. We encourage everyone who thinks they may be able to
make it to fill out the registration form so we can try planning.

...Please register soon so we can get a count of people!

...Workshops currently planned include:

- Minifig and brick customization/defamation
- Castle Architecture and modeling tricks
- DCC Conversion - Making LEGO DCC Compatible presentation and demo
- Train detailing
- Stop motion animation and LEGO

...We also are looking for anyone who wants to give a presentation or workshop on just
about any topic! If you want to add to the list, email to info@wamalug.org.

...Displays we have online for the fest include:

- Historical display of the 'supercars'
- Display of classic sets from the 70s and 80s
- MOC displays
- LEGO Animation Display and equipment
- A DCC converted train display

...If you have a larger than 'normal' display (a very general term!) that you are bringing
(like if one of the LTCs wants to set up a small train display independent of the 'room of
trains'), or if you have a special display, email to info@wamalug.org so we can make sure
to set aside room.

...Planned events include:

- Random building in the building room (LEGO is providing two big boxes with lots of lots
of excess bricks so you don't have to bring your entire collection!)
- BrikWars Fantasy and Space warfare
- Evil Stevie's Pirate Game
- CastleWorld stories
- Mindstorms competitions (check http://www.bussetech.com/lego/mindstorms/ for basic idea)
- Themed building competitions (with prizes donated from The Store!)
- Building with gloves :-)
- A 'guess the number of pieces' contest at The Store
- Lots of prizes courtesy of Buffie and The Store

...We are also planing lots of events from brikwars to building contests! If you want to
run or help run an event, drop a line to info@wamalug.org. If you want to participate in
an event, just show up! If you want to participate in an event that you don't see listed,
send email to info@wamalug.org and if we get enough interest we will try to have it!

...We _will_ have BrickFest T-Shirts available at the fest! Check out
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=538 for the art. T-Shirts will prolly be
$10 each (send size requests to info@wamalug.org). We will be able to ship you a shirt if
you want to 'help the cause'. Shipping information, pricing and details will be worked out
soon.

...We will also be running live webcams from the fest for all you who can't make it. And
will have ethernet connections for limited surfing or if you want to plug in your laptop.

...If you have a camera, bring it! The best pictures from the fest will be collected for a
virtual tour of the BrickFest! (and we may request a dupe or two of the physical picture
(if a film camera) so we can have a physical album too).

...Lastly, if you are coming and want to share a room with others, email info@wamalug.org.
We will attempt to link up ppl with rooms and ppl looking for rooms before the fest if we
can (there will likely be a sign-up sheet at the fest for any last minute room sharing).

...See you at the fest!

(sorry for cross posting so much, but was afraid too many people didn't read
lugnet.announce (bad people!!))

...you can go back to ignoring me now...
