Hi Vineet,
Here is one way to do it: http://www.wegmuller.org/lego/technic/ideas/index.html
This prototype was built when I was thinking of building an articulated truck.
The same principle can be applied to any kind of steering where you need three
positions. The key element is the controller: it is made of two valves, one per
cylinder, and a central lever. By default, the lever is vertical and the two
rubber bands keep the valves pointing towards the center. When the lever is
moved to one side, it actuates only one valve. The central lever could probably
be replaced by a steering wheel with a cam...
I have used this system to add steering to a modified verion of the pickup truck
from the "land busters" set (Someday, I'll get around to taking pictures of it).
This particular implementation uses two small cylinders and result in a very
compact arrangment.
I hope this helps...
Greetings,
David

| To all those lugnet guys who have built those huge MBenz actros trucks- How do you implement the pneumatic steering? Thanks. (20 years ago, 14-May-05, to lugnet.technic)
