Hello,

My name is Ben, this is my first post here. I would like to introduce myself and
post some pics of a recent lego project.  Here is a link to pictures of a rope
mining shovel:

Thanks for sharing your pics. You may want to check out BrickShelf
(www.brickshelf.com) as a place to host pics too... but if yahoo works for you,
great!

Looks a very interesting project. It has a bit more non LEGO in it than I care
for but no biggie.

I personally would be worried about running the Technic motors on 12V, was that
a concern for you?

Thanks agian for sharing and welcome to LUGNET! Spotlighted.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.  I would prefer to use only lego elements but I am
on a budget so sometimes I have to improvise.

Regarding your comments about voltage, it works fine, and the motors do not get
hot or anything.  I was also worried i might ruin them, but after trying it out
it seemed to work.  I have been using the 12 volt power supply for a almost a
year and have not had any problems.  I am not super knowledgable about
electronics but the extra voltage seems to give the motors a lot more power. .
the main winch for the shovel is incredibly strong, it has 4 of the new, clear
technic motors teamed up with a gearbox on two winch drums.  I caught my finger
in the winch line once and boy did it hurt, hehe.

Thanks for your comments!
Ben
