Hi folks

I've uploaded pictures (thanks Calum) of two new technic models to
Brickshelf: full suspension mountain bikes.

This is more of your typical cross-country bike, with a neat front fork
suspension - this was available on AMP research mountain bikes a few years ago.
It also features a derailleur at the back, although the bike is
only single-speed :)

This is more of a downhill bike, with longer front and rear suspension travel.
The rear swingarm took the most time to perfect.  The rubber band-tensioned
rear derailleur is semi-functional, since the rear swingarm pivot is NOT
on the same axis as the bottom bracket (where the pedals are) - as a result the
chain length changes slightly as the suspension is compressed.

Building suspension into these bikes was only possible through the use of the
new studless beams and liftarms - as some of you know, I am a big fan of these
new technic pieces!

Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

John

PS.  The bikes are not completely to scale, but I will improve that next time.
PPS. I will MLCAD these bikes in the near future - but first I need to figure
out how to model LEGO chain efficiently.

John,

Nice stuff. I have often thought of doing an MTB myself.  Now that I have the
hailfire, I will be thinking of building something that can take advantage of
those hoops!

Dave
