  site updates

Hi everyone, I have made some updates to my site that you may want to check out. First, I made complete building instructions for the window walker robot, as some people expressed interest in this. (URL) I added a link to the Ferrari's new book, (...) (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Motorized Lego Steering - micromotor not up to the task

Set 8082 - motorized buildign set included both a micromotor and a car with mircromotorized wheel and rack steering. The motor is simply too slow and powerless to steer in any reasonable time. The mechanism also used rubber bands (URL) (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) [snipped] (...) That pulley method immediately reminded me of a long since past Technic set that used it for motorized steering: (URL) be smaller thanks to the red mirco motor. (I sure don't recall one in 1980!) Adrian Egli (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Mata Nui bug?

(...) I picked up the fire guy, then Kopeke, but then I saw the fire guy again (?). I talked to him and he joined my group again (?), but Kopeke disappeared from my Tohunga screen (and he is no longer where I picked him up). After I picked everyone (...)   Re: Motorized Lego Steering

Two ways I can think of: 1) use one of the white clutch gears 2) us a mindstorms rotation sensor to count the number of turns Tom (...) (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  3rd option (non-mechanic)

It had to be said: Use a rotation sensor and an RCX to interface to the motor A polarity switch will also work, see: (URL) (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mechanical Automatic Transmission

Awesome! Thanks for building one of these. Have you put together any instructions or a .dat file? I'd like to use this in a 4x4 I'm building. Thanks again. -Nathan (...) (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Motorized Lego Steering

The simplest way is to merely use a clutch gear. (URL) The motor will continue to spin, but will quit pushing on the rack, effectively keeping your assembly in one piece. -Nathan (...) (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Motorized Lego Steering

(...) Their are two methods I can think of. The first is the one I used on my Rotinoff. Simply use the large pulley wheels for your transmisson. Use elastic bands in the gear down mechanism and when the steering reaches the stop the small pulley (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: building thicker technic axles

(...) One thing I noticed about Technic Axles is that they seem to have a bit of rational flex. You have to have something with a bit of mass being rotated about the axle to notice it. Look at my znap/technic ferris wheel here ... (URL) The center (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)
