(...) I think those parts were new with the 1999 sets, but that year was when I came back to Technic (Throwbots of all things sucked me back in to Lego) so I can't confirm it. 8445 and 8446 both had one of those springs too, the former uses it to (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I agree with your opinion. I love 8448 and I bought it because I had missed out on 8880. At the time too I didn't realize that Lego had done a gear box before and was absolutely enthralled by its construction. But even with 8448, for all its (...)
