| OK I did this quite a while ago as a proof of concept, but never got around to posting it. | (...) One idea for rubber tires is slices of bike tyre inner tube. Dunno how well it would hold though, and it would raise the height slightly. | This years BrickFest in DC is going to be "the best so far". To make that happen, the organizers are interested in new ideas for things you'd like to see happen.
