(...) The simplest reason is that when the switch is flipped to one side, the other port is released to the atmosphere. This means that your hydraulic fluid would spill all over the floor. Figure out how to eliminate the free release (hint, only (...) (20 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)
