  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) There are no 2003 TECHNIC sets that have studed beams. There certainly are non-TECHNIC sets that have them (...) So you are ALL or NOTHING. This is fine on a set by set basis, but not across the entire product line. (...) With the 2003 TECHNIC (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) Everyone can see that the two systems have their own advantages and that combining the two gives the advantages of both, but thats not the problem. The problem is that the 2003 sets had NO studded beams. (...) Having a few studded beams in a (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

(...) Then I'm concerned for them too. Maybe LEGO will go back to them as it is shifting back to its core product lines. Steven is right. They are more open to input right now that they have been in a long time. Kevin (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Studless Technic models

Hi Kevin, (...) I think this misunderstanding arose from my bad pidgin english, I should have stressed that 'only studless' phrase. (...) I've recently re-built my 8479 Barcode Truck - this is a 'traditional' set and I can bet, that taking few first (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) Replying to myself, phew ;-) AFAIK in Technic, last sets containing studded beams are 3804 RIS2.0 (2001), 8466 4x4Offroader (2001) & 8461 Williams (2002). 8431 Crane Truck (2002) doesn't count, as it is a re-release. Sets for 2003: 8441 (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Hi Jindrich, Thanks for your open minded responses. <snip> (...) I guess my long winded post was unneccessary...... Wimpy beams have been getting a lot of grief lately, so I guess I had pent up energy about that. Wimpy beams provide no new (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Before I start, I'm taking three big deep breaths and relaxing.... I've got a lot of energy on this topic. Jindrich, I understand and respect why you don't like the studless beams, so please don't take this post as though I don't. (...) (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Purpose of part 32072

(...) My 'technical' english is quite bad, but... They use it for steering. On of those is on the axle, driven by the 'siren' on the roof, it turns two other which are on 90-degree angle, each one connected to short arm with towball axle which is (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Purpose of part 32072

(...) Not sure how it's used in the backhoe, but I can think of two nice things about it: (a) two can work together at any opening angle, forming a bevel gear set at non-90-degree angles, and (b) with the studless construction, two of these form a (...)   Re: Studless Technic models

(...) Agreed, and I wrote that in my original message. (...) Agreed. (...) Peeron is down right now. I'll try to do a search as it goes up. But looking in the 2003 catalog, none of the 'Technic' sets seem to have them. Don't know about Bionicle/Star (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)
