  Re: Poor Mans Work Table

(...) Nice table Brad! I had an idea I might try if I ever make a work table, top it with that non-skid foamy padding stuff. That way bricks don't go sliding all over. It's a little pricey, and finding a big roll would be a chore, but I think that (...) (23 years ago, 13-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.storage, lugnet.space)

  Poor Mans Work Table

The following work table was my Sundays project. For starters I use to build on a 3/8 inch 4x8 board layed across a printer stand and a old desk. To say the least it was very flimsy. After I started seeing the middle starting to sag in and having (...) (23 years ago, 13-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.storage, lugnet.space)

Re: Sorting strategies [was: Re: Rebel Blockade Runner . . . Holy Moly ! !]

(...) Yow. I can't begin to imagine sorting 500k pieces. I've got about an order of magnitude lower than that currently unsorted, and I'm not looking forward to that. But, to get back to the topic at hand: When I sorted mine, I first sorted six (...) (23 years ago, 8-May-02, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Attic Heat

Almost all of my Lego from my childhood was stored in an attic for 10 years in Northern Virginia, which can get pretty hot in the summer. The attic had a fan, but if you went searching for something up there in July, you found it FAST, or you came (...) (23 years ago, 8-May-02, to lugnet.storage)

When you get up to 20-50 7-drawer Iris carts, you WILL sort in as fine a detail as possible, trust me :-/ (...) -- Tom Stangl ***(URL) Visual FAQ home ***(URL) Bay Area DSMs (23 years ago, 8-May-02, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Attic Heat

(...) I've never lived in a house with an attic, but I can tell you I used to keep a gallon ziplock bag of used and abuse pieces behind the seat of my NLS's pickup truck to play with, and they were none the worse for wear, even after baking in 100F+ (...)   Attic Heat

I just completed a Lugnet post search on "attic heat" and did not read any postings that said: "Attic heat destroyed my Legos." I was wondering if our intuition tells us not to store in the attic but if in all actuality there is no hard evidence of (...) (23 years ago, 8-May-02, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Sorting strategies [was: Re: Rebel Blockade Runner . . . Holy Moly ! !]

(...) Ok, what wasn't quite so obvious was the sub-dividing you were doing. I agree that there is some modest number of global categories of parts. I'd pick a different set than your 21, but the number does depend somewhat on what you tend to build, (...) (23 years ago, 8-May-02, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Sorting strategies [was: Re: Rebel Blockade Runner . . . Holy Moly ! !]

(...) [snip inventory of huge collection] If my collection was as big as you describe, I would probably still have only 21 (or a similar number) categories. Each category might correspond to a stack of bins, though (Probably each ziplock in my (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Sorting Methods

Simian's advice was pretty good, so is Jonathan's. (...) Divide and conquer and multi-stage sorting are key techniques to huge sorting problems. (...) I haven't learned that one yet :-) Frank (23 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.storage)
