Well, it certainly borrowed a number of details, esp. the use of laser cannons
and the old-fashioned rim in the mechanical cluster. Originally I set out to
model the Y-Wing as closely as possible to the Incredible Cross Sections, but as
I got going with it I realized that I didn't have all of the pieces I would need
to model the angles of the nose correctly. From that point on, my approach
became more "art" than science. I basically wanted to get the shape and scale
reasonably close, and then just pack it full of interesting mechanical bits.
