Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Dave Schuler
I finally got the chance to see this item at a local TRU, and I'm really unimpressed. The scanner indicated it to be $24.99 for under 300 pieces, and none of them unique or particularly impressive. I understand that, to assemble an equivalent (...)      (...) Hi Dave, I'm not really interested in this set, but would like to at least look at it. Which TRU (I'm assuming you mean one here in Pittsburgh). Toki (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Dave Schuler
(...) I've only been able to check the one in the South Hills. They also have several of each UCS kit and the Falcon in stock, as well as the Soccer and Dino sets. No dazzling deals, but cool to look at. Dave! (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —David Goeb
(...) Well what sold me was the cool plastic stars on the tub [/:-). I was happy with the parts as I have not bought the other two Pod Sets yet. I can also see someone who had the 7171 big set picking one up for fills. All in in all I liked it, But (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Manfred Moolhuysen
I don't like the set, it's Star Wars juniorized. If you compaire the bucket with the "full" Pod Racing #7171 set, it's simply awfull. Greetings, M. Moolhuysen. (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Bryan Hodges
(...) it's also about 1/3 the price. Convincing a parent to shell out $25.00 is alot easier than convincing one to shell out $80+ -Bryan (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Manfred Moolhuysen
(...) I was talking as an AFOL here. I was so glad when I started to earn my own money and I could buy sets, instead of watching all those nice 70th and 80th castle-, space- and trainsets go by. How I craved for those sets! My dark age had pure (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Dave Schuler
(...) Even so, they could have upped the piece count or lowered the price--perhaps by putting it in a compact, inexpensive box rather than a big, pricey, mostly empty bucket--and sold more sets. If it were a toss-up between a $80 "full" set or a $25 (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) and (...) more (...) another (...) 400 (...) Heh, I saw several of those everywhere, and they are not moving. Very disappointing use of TLG production runs. Come on, TLG! I do not know if I am even going to carry it in my parts store. Scott S. (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Mike Petrucelli
(...) How much you want to bet TLG will see this as "no one wants Star Wars Buckets I guess" -Lord Insanity (who originally thought the blue was imperial Violet (like Happy meal set) and wanted lots of these.) (...) (24 years ago, 4-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Steve Chapple
(...) If you compare to a regular bucket with only bricks in it, then I'd agree with you, but with more special pieces than bricks, it's only fair to compare it to other Star Wars sets. In that regard it's a good value, (291 pcs for $25) although (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Matthew Ferguson
Does the bucket build the typical Anakin pod? Does anyone have a picture of the bucket/what it makes? (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Disappointing Pod Racing Bucket —Frank Filz
(...) No, it's a smaller and more basic pod. Instead of the energy beams being 4 trans orange Star Wars cannon, they are made from one or two trans orange 1x6 bricks. Anakin's pod uses yellow 1x8 for the flaps instead of the special part. There are (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.starwars)
