I am about 30% done putting this together. While I really like it, I thought
it would be a bigger sized model.

I have completed the pod portion of the Tie, and I am now working on the
wings. The pod it self is about the size of a softball. While I have no
problem with the huge plastic dome used for the front of the pod, I do
absolutely hate the big huge dark gray dome piece they use for the back of
the model. The LEAST they could have done was to have made the 4 1/4 dome
pieces. Sorry, I  forgot the acronym for a very un-Lego like piece, but this
is it.

You should have seen the confused look on my face when I was opening plastic
bags and said "Why the &$%@ are there shovels in here?". I will take some
pics when I am done to show all of you, why there were shovels in a tie
fighter set, but this also was a bit of dismay, because you would think they
could have molded a special piece for the function the shovel serves.

(...) Is the piece for the back of the pod the big-dome base part? The one used in Neptune's Discovery Lab (and others)? Looking at (URL), the two dome-parts are used in the tower on the right-hand side of the picture. That's not the most exciting (...) (25 years ago, 19-May-00, to lugnet.starwars)
