Note the difference.
The trans antennaes and the light sabres have random bubbles in them from
the molding process.
The Fibre Optic strands have deliberate and exact carvings to disperse the
light along the fibre.
Lighting an antenna from below makes the bubbles light up just as the carves
in th estrand would. Since the bubbles are random it would make a great
'play item' in a set; like the Divers 'x-ray' apparatus, it can be a
materials tester to look for 'hidden' weak spots.
