I could see a modified version of podracing becoming a real
sport. Obviously there are no repulsor lifts to keep the
things off the ground, but why not strap a couple of old jet
engines on to a car, and race them on the sand flats of the
US southwest? Attach the turbines to the car in a v-shape,
with the car being the pod. The attachments would be an
inverse-wing, preventing lift and keeping the vehicle firmly
on the ground. The car would not be a typical one, of course,
needing different suspension and wheel setups, but why not?
400mph races in the desert....
Perhaps I'll build a Lego version of Earthly podraces.....
